Together, they bring a unique combination of scientific expertise, entrepreneurial experience, and investment acumen. Kevin Ding joined DHVC founding team since inception in 2013 and serves as Managing Director. Kevin has led DHVC’s investment in blockchain sector including FCoin, Ontology, NEO, HashGraph, BaseCoin, StrongSalt, Mainframe, Libra Credit, DAD, Open Payment, DATA, Fragments, Points Foundation, Perlin Network, FInsur, ContentOS, Hadron, PolyChain Capital, SFOX, Compound Finance, SpaceMesh; software and internet sector including Cohesity, Optimizely, Branch Metrics, HeadSpin, Zenreach, Survios, Viz AI, ProsperWorks, Tubi TV, FireFly. Kevin graduated with a B.S in computer science from Stanford University.
Judy Yan
Managing Director
Judy Yan is Managing Director at DHVC. she started DHVC systematic blockchain Investment immediately after joining DHVC in May2015 . In DHVC, her portfolio includes: Brave/Basic Attention Token, Nuco/Aion, NuCypher, Ochidlabs, Mobilecoin, CertiK, Zilliqa, OriginProtocol, Cobo, Infinity Stones as well as early Pantera Capital and Polychain Capital. Before, she was trader and portfolio manager for $4 billion dollar global portfolio in China Life. She holds Master Degree from MIT Sloan.
Brendan Tobin
Associate
Brendan's areas of focus include fintech, cryptocurrency, and machine learning/AI. Brendan has a diverse background focused on the intersection between business and advanced technology. Most recently he worked in corporate strategy at Credit Karma with a focus on loan marketplace design and evaluating emerging business areas. This experience gave him a broad view of the drivers of success in the fintech ecosystem. Prior to Credit Karma he worked in Samsung Research America's (SRA) Open Innovation group focused on advanced software research including machine learning, computer vision, security, and networking. Brendan rotated between technology licencing, corporate venture investment, and M&A groups at SRA. Brendan has also worked as a research assistant developing computer vision algorithms for art conservation and as an electrical engineer on high-performance camera systems. Brendan has a Masters degree in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University with a focus on entrepreneurship and financial analysis. Prior to Stanford he received both a Bachelors and Masters degrees in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Arizona. His masters research focused on computational analysis and modelling of materials. In his spare time Brendan loves travelling around the world and volunteering with nonprofits to improve local government.
Rachel Wan

Rachel has been a founding member of DHVC, together with GP, she has raised funds from top tier institutional investors and Internet companies, making DHVC one of the fastest growing VC funds in Silicon Valley. She has actively engaged in value add activities for portfolio companies, connecting them to strategic investors and business partners. Prior, Rachel worked at Investment Technology Group (NYSE: ITG) - an algorithm trading technology firm headquartered in NYC. She has deep understanding of FinTech and portfolio management. Rachel has been taking early investor/board observer roles of technology startups in the Valley. She is a mentor at Hong Kong Cyberport startup training program, and a frequent guest speaker of entrepreneurship events. Rachel received M.Sc. in Finance from London School of Economics and Political Science, M.Sc. in Information Science from Indiana University Bloomington and B.A. in Information System Management, Nanjing University.
Yulei Wang
Senior Associate
Yulei is building a network of portfolios at the intersection of biotech, big data, and blockchain. Cross-trained in statistics and biology at Havard, Yulei is fascinated about the potential of machine intelligence with the fuel of right data and the guard of blockchain for data integrity and security. In biotech space, she believes such joint force will not only be able to systemize and accelerate innovation but also advance human understanding and guide science discovery. Therefore, Yulei is devoted to adding value for companies with data- and blockchain- driven supports as well as an ecosystem spanning academia, industry, and overseas organizations. Her current portfolios featured AI early-stage disease detection, computational drug discovery, CRISPR personalized medicine, etc., most of which are innovative and complete platform solutions.
Ali Farahanchi
Vice President
Ali’s areas of interest span several sectors including life sciences, digital health, software-enabled Healthcare, as well as emerging technologies in cryptography and distributed systems. Ali has been involved in DHVC’s investments in Engine Biosciences, Mammoth Biosciences, Darmiyan, Keep Network, Liquidity Network, Tubi TV among others. Prior to joining DHVC, Ali’s experience in venture capital includes stints at Data Collective (DCVC), Foundation Capital, and B Capital Group. Ali started his career as a management consultant at Boston Consulting Group and A.T. Kearney, where he advised clients on transformation, operations, and IT, in Finance, Healthcare, and Consumer Goods industries. Ali spent several years in research at MIT; in semiconductor and MEMS research at Microsystems Technology Lab, in operations management at Center for Transportation and Logistics, and in entrepreneurial finance at Sloan School of Management. Ali received PhD degree in Systems Engineering, Master’s degree in EECS, and Bachelor’s degrees in Physics and EE from MIT. Ali received MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business with focus on Finance and Entrepreneurship. Ali grew up in Iran and attended Sharif University of Technology before coming to the US.”
Callie Wang
Associate
Callie love working with passionate entrepreneurs to build impactful companies. Her area of interest focusing on blockchain, consumer tech and fintech. Prior to DHVC, Callie has a diverse working experience as founding team members of Start-ups in Decentralized Digital Advertising, P2P Marketplace and Commercial Real Estate where she focused on business development, market research and operations. Since joining DHVC, Callie has worked on investments in more than 20 blockchain projects. Callie received master’s degree in Marketing from New York University and bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Sun Yet-Sen University. Her lifetime goal is to know at least one person from all countries in the world, and it is half completed thanks to her experience at the United Nations and DHVC.
Andrew Gu
Founding Partner
Dr. Andrew Gu is Founding Partner of DHVC. He co-founded DHVC in 2013 and grew it from zero to $600M across three funds and two offices. Dr. Gu received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Prior to his investment career, Dr. Gu was an early team member of InvenSense (IPO in 2011, NYSE: INVN, later acquired by TDK). Dr. Gu is skilled at multi-discipline research. With his academic stands and industry expertise, Dr. Gu has published 24 scientific papers and obtained 8 patents. Dr. Gu received Wells Fargo "Recognition of Achievement Award”. He is an early investor and Board Member of several successful companies in Silicon Valley.
Joe Wu
Director of Operations
Joe is responsible for financial and operational matters at DHVC. Joe bring a strong working knowledge of financial reporting and industry operating practice to the team including multiple years’ experience in the financial service companies, ten years public accounting assurance experience across various investment companies, including hedge funds, venture capital funds, private equity funds, and fund of funds, and multiple years’ experience in investment companies partnership tax compliance. Prior to DHVC, Joe was Controller of Formation Group and Assistant Controller of Salient Partners. Previously, Joe was a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young LLP Financial Service Office in San Francisco and Accountant at Harb, Levy and Weiland, LLP in San Francisco. Joe received M.S. in Accounting from Boston College and B.S. in Accounting from Iowa State University. Joe is a CPA since 2008 (currently inactive) and is a member of the AICPA.
Shoucheng Zhang
Founding Chairman
Prof. Shoucheng Zhang is a member of the US National Academy of Science, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He discovered a new state of matter called topological insulator in which electrons can conduct along the edge without dissipation, enabling a new generation of electronic devices with much lower power consumption. For this ground breaking work he received numerous international awards, including the Buckley Prize, the Dirac Medal and Prize, the Europhysics Prize, the Physics Frontiers Prize and the Benjamin Franklin Medal, one of the most prestigious science prizes in the world, whose previous laureates include Albert Einstein, Madame Curie, Stephen Hawking, Thomas Edison and Alexander Bell. Prof. Zhang is the founding chairman of DHVC which invests in startups from Stanford and Silicon Valley. DHVC’s investments focus on blockchain, mobile internet, AI, big data, AR/VR, genomics and precision medicine.
